《灵性的指引》首次以佛教造像艺术家的自我表述作为叙事的主体，并置呈现艺术家的“画”与“话”，打破大部分观众的刻板印象——即为佛造像的艺人是“无名的造神者”或是“重复相同活计的工匠”。展览不依赖专家的评论，突出佛教造像艺术家——尤其是此前被严重忽视的藏族女性唐卡画师——在现代艺术市场中的能动性，在“人性”与“神性”的交织中，探索艺术家如何为佛教造像艺术不断注入新的生命力。虽然“信仰”一词对于生活在喧嚣都市的人们来说似乎越来越遥远，但对于“灵性”的追求与“仪式”带来的慰藉却始终贯穿我们的生活。展览通过构建“传统”艺人与当代艺术家的对话，邀请观众踏上一场寻求智慧与灵性的旅程。展览以人类学的视角切入，基于长期的田野考察，通过艺术作品、艺术家的“第一人称叙事”及多媒体材料，为观看带来审美、宗教和艺术史意义以外，更深层的人文关怀。

A Journey of Spiritual Guidance is the first exhibition to highlight the first-person narratives of artists who create Buddhist art. Juxtaposing the artists’ work and their own words, the exhibit explores creativity in Buddhist art making. It breaks a prevalent yet biased view—that Buddhist art makers are “anonymous creators of the Buddha” or “craftspeople who always repeat the same work.” The exhibition does not rely on comments from art historians or critics, but emphasizes the agency of Buddhist art makers (especially Tibetan female thangka painters). By showing both “the people” and “the sacred,” the exhibition reveals the intricate social life of Buddhist images in contemporary societies. Although the word “faith” seems increasingly distant for people who live in bustling metropolitan areas, the pursuit of spirituality and the assurance brought by ritual practices are never absent from our lives. By fostering a dialogue between the so-called traditional artists and contemporary artists, the exhibition invites audiences to embark on a journey looking for wisdom and spirituality. Building on the anthropological perspective, a long-term field research, multimedia materials, as well as artists’ own narratives, the exhibition reveals a deep layer of humanity embedded in Buddhist art in addition to its aesthetic, religious, and art historical significance.
